The dedication will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. on the 2nd floor near the Intensive Care Unit. Everyone is invited to join donor family members, hospital staff, and LOPA officials at the 10am ceremony.
Local, state, and national events like Glenwood Regional Medical Center’s Wall of Heroes dedication encourage people to become registered donors. Hospitals throughout the state of Louisiana are celebrating National Donate Life Month and will begin a 30-day initiative to raise awareness about the critical need for individuals to register as organ, tissue, and eye donors by participating in flag raising ceremonies, donor drives, and educational outreach programs.
There are over 122,000 people on the national transplant waiting list and about 2,000 of those people are from the state of Louisiana. A single donor has the potential to save up to 9 lives, restore sight to 2 people through cornea donation, and enhance the lives of 50 or more people through tissue donation. To learn more about donation you can visit LOPA’s website at www.lopa.org or call 1-800-521-GIVE.
