A check was presented at the Ouachita Council on Aging to benefit senior shut-ins.
Glenwood Regional Medical Center donated $5,000 dollars to the Meals on Wheels program.
The donation is a collective effort by the vendors from the recent adult healthy living fair.
Organizers say this will allow Meals on Wheels to extend to the seniors who have been wait-listed for service.
“That’s a hard thing to do for an elderly person who is living alone and unable to prepare a nutritional balanced meal for themselves, so hopefully this will enable us to be able to put some of those who are on the waiting list on the route,” says Lynda McGehee, Director of Ouachita Council on Aging.
Organizers say this will add over 1400 meals to the Meals on Wheels program.
