Glenwood Regional Medical Center’s Division of Behavioral Health Opens New Adult Unit
New homelike facility to provide specialized, personal care to patients ages 18 to 64
Glenwood Regional Medical Center’s Division of Behavioral Health is pleased to announce the opening of its new adult inpatient unit. The newly built 11,850 square-foot, 20-bed facility will offer inpatient behavioral health services for patients age 18 to 64. The new unit is housed at 128 Ridgedale Dr. in West Monroe, in the building that once served as Ridgedale Academy. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House are set for March 5, 2013, with the official ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. and Open House until 6 p.m.
“We are very excited about the opening of this new unit and enthusiastically invite the public to attend our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House,” says Ron Elder, CEO at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. “We are pleased to provide a new specialized inpatient behavioral health unit to adult patients in northern Louisiana and the surrounding region.”
The new unit features an experienced team of psychiatrists, doctors, social workers, therapists and specialized nurses who work around-the-clock to provide individualized care to both acute care patients and those with traditional mood disorders. This dual diagnosis track is unique to other adult units in the area, as acute and non-acute care patients are housed separately in order to provide more specialized care to each patient.
In addition, Glenwood’s new adult behavioral health unit is the first and only psychiatric facility in the state of Louisiana to use the Care View patient monitoring system, a HIPAA-compliant secure video monitoring system that connects the patient room to a touch-screen monitor at the nursing station, allowing nursing staff to maintain a level of visual contact with each patient and provide better care.
“At Glenwood Division of Behavioral Health, it’s all about the patients,” said Eric Rutledge, director of Behavioral Health Services. “The facility has been newly constructed from the ground up and is certainly one of the finest in the state of Louisiana.”
Glenwood’s new adult unit is committed to providing individualized treatment plans that meet the needs of patients and their loved ones.
